It's been a long time since BAWIA was first founded in 2001. Lots has changed over these eight years. Municipal WiFi came and went. Equipment became much less expensive. The 2.4 GHz band became quite crowded, and performance deteriorated. It is becoming rare to find an 'open' access point these days. Nothing much became of WiMAX. The founder of BAWIA, Bob, has restarted this web page in hopes of resuscitating community Internet access in the Boston area beyond. Some manifestos may appear, or not. There will probably be a forum, maybe a wiki, maybe RSS syndication. There will be some maps, using Google.
